Shaclaw

The shaclaws were massive, armored insects native to Voss that possessed powerful foreclaws able to tear through the flesh and armor of their foes. Shaclaws also used these foreclaws to burrow into the earth to find roots and subterranean mammals to feed upon. They were considered a delicacy by the Gormak, but would secrete deadly toxins after they died. As a result, they had to be specially cooked while alive. Captive shaclaw were kept on Nar Shaddaa while presumably transplanted wild populations of shaclaws existed on Taris.

During the Cold War, the Republic experimented with breeding cybernetically weaponized shaclaws on the moon Nar Shaddaa to use against the Sith Empire.
