Shockapedes were a species of insect used by the Yuuzhan Vong that resembled worms with legs. They resided in hives and were known to be dangerous.
When the Rodian Jedi Knight Jovan Drark discovered an insect nest while attempting to repair and All Terrain Armored Transport that the Myrkr strike team found on the Yuuzhan Vong worldship Baanu Rass during their mission to eliminate the Voxyn queen, his fellow Jedi Jacen Solo inquired if the creatures looked like worms with legs over comlink. Drark, who was also familiar familiar with shockapedes, assured Solo that it was not a shockapede hive, but a nest of flitnats.
