Ithorian herd ship

Ithorian herd ships were a class of massive city-ship used by the Ithorians as a home away from home. They were based on the repulsorlift herd-cities of their planet, but were enclosed for space travel. The ships travel the galaxy on a predetermined course set by the herd, but return to Ithor once every three years in an event known as the Herd Meet.

The Ithorians referred to the starships that docked aboard and remained with the herd ship for a time as Ph'thwyll, a type of fungus that attached itself to the seedpods of the Johinuu tree. This name was only used privately among fellow Ithorians.

An Ithorian city of Dewbright on the planet Auratera was located above the surface of the world on elevated platforms similar to the tradition of Ithorian herd ships.
