Red 1

Red 1 was a T-65 X-wing starfighter in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. The fighter was flown by Red Leader Garven Dreis, and had previously been stationed at Dantooine base prior to being transferred to Yavin 4. R5-K6 served as Red 1's astromech droid.

During the Battle of Yavin, Red 1 was destroyed by Darth Vader after Dreis launched an unsuccessful attempt to launch proton torpedoes into the thermal exhaust port of the Death Star. Luke Skywalker attempted to cover for Dreis as he pulled out of the trench and attempted to evade the Dark Lord, but Dreis ordered Skywalker to prepare for his attack run. Red 1 was destroyed shortly after.
