A blade-length adjuster was a common lightsaber component. It allowed the lightsaber to adjust the length of the weapon's blade. When Anakin Skywalker engaged in a Concordance of Fealty with Halagad Ventor, he pointed out how Ventor's lightsaber lacked a blade-length adjustor.
