Bokken sabers, also known as lightsaber training staffs and Jedi training sabers, were wooden swords used for lightsaber combat training.
Bokken sabers were an essential part of any Jedi's training. Padawans used them to learn basic fighting techniques and combat moves in a safe setting. After a student moved comfortably with a Bokken saber, either against sparring opponents or lightsaber training technology, they could progress to actual lightsabers. Jedi could turn to Bokken sabers at any point for additional training drills for either themselves or their Padawan.
