Buoy

Buoys were a variety of navigational technology that saw a variety of uses throughout the galaxy. Many buoys were utilized in realspace, though some buoys saw use planetside. Some, such as navigation buoys, were utilized to chart courses through hyperspace. Sensor buoys were a variety utilized to monitor starship activity, while space buoys were utilized in the Akkadese Maelstrom in order to maintain the Channel, a section of the Kessel Run hyperspace route. Buoy droids were a variety of planetside buoy that also operated independently as a droid. They were utilized to guide incoming and outgoing ships in Coruscant's spaceports.
