The Clone mortar was a short range weapon used by the Grand Army of the Republic. Its function was to drop explosive projectiles on enemies at a close distance. During the Battle of Umbara, the 501st Legion used the weapon to attack what they believed to be native Umbarans, but they later realized that they had been tricked into attacking their own men from the 212th Attack Battalion.
