A code breaker chip was a computer chip designed to bypass algorithmic security processes. By 3 ABY, it was illegal to own the chip in the Galactic Empire.

In 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess learned that the Starfallers pirate gang had stored one of the chips at their workshop in the Southern Falls region of Toshara, a moon of Toshaal in the Outer Rim Territories. She later visited the workshop and stole the chip and used it to upgrade her slicing unit.
