A code-crystal was a component used in fractal radios which allowed for highly-encrypted communications. Code-crystals could be made to only fit specific transmitters.
In 3 BBY, Cassian Andor gave the Ghorman Front a new code-crystal that was made one-of-a-kind to only fit their radio which would allow the group to stay in communications with Luthen Rael's rebel network.
