Current insulator

Canon Linked from 1 article

A current insulator was a circuit that would absorb and channel ion build-up. They could be installed in starships and be used to protect a ship's cargo from ion energy.

In 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess paid a starship mechanic two thousand credits and supplied them with twenty Cargo signature scramblers in order to install a current insulator in the hold of the Trailblazer, her EML-850 light freighter. This upgrade allowed her and her companion ND-5 to more easily smuggle ionized cargo for the Miyuki Trade League.
