Diagnostic patches could be used to study an individual's sleep cycles. In 18 BBY, Caregiver Mitth'ali'astov, core name "Thalias," had the sky-walker navigator Che'ri wear a diagnostic patch to monitor the young girl's sleep patterns on the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk.
