A distress buoy was a type of emergency beacon used by the Galactic Empire. When the Curich-class shuttle Resurgence was attacked and damaged by a squadron of Irregular T-65 X-wing starfighters, Captain Gorgi released a distress buoy before making an emergency landing on the planet Abonshee.
