While common detonators were effective within narrow parameters, droid brain detonators could adapt to nearly any situation by using a droid brain. They abided to very specific trigger conditions and could follow complex instructions. A user could instruct their detonite charge to wait thirty minutes after multiple specific individuals have entered a facility before igniting itself, or tell their fragmentation grenade to explode after death.

Droid brain detonators were fiercely loyal. They tended to develop unique personality quirks over their short existences. Some were annoyingly chipper or enthusiastic, and some could even exhibit childlike naivete. Droid brain detonators cost 1,000 credits on the market and could be attached to grenades and other explosive devices. Notable droid brain detonator models include CryonCorp's D9 Demolitions Droid and SoroSuub's XS-3 Intelligent Detonation System.
