Energy flux capacitors were components in power scanners, devices used to detect a wide range of energy emissions. According to the smuggler Platt Okeefe, desperate mechanics would often dismantle and cannibalize power scanners to repurpose their energy flux capacitors, usually to repair hyperdrive motivators. Platt later included a mention of energy flux capacitors in her guide, the Smuggler's Handbook.
