Flux compressors were a key component in constructing ion smoke grenades. By 3 ABY, a flux compressor had been stored in a smuggler hideout on a cliff overlooking Lake Amari on the Outer Rim Territories planet Akiva.
In 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess stole the flux compressor from the smuggler hideout on Akiva and, with the help of Temmin Wexley, was able to start using it to construct ion smoke grenades.
