Fusion matrix

A fusion matrix was a scientific instrument used to create synthetic crystals which could focus and channel power. During the High Republic Era, the devices were rare, although one was kept on Coruscant, the capital planet of the Galactic Republic. Aspiring scientist Avon Starros repeatedly asked her mentor, Professor Glenna Kip, if they could go see the fusion matrix, but Kip responded by joking that she was banned from Coruscant, and the matter was put to rest. Starros was later kidnapped by the Nihil pirates and taken to the planet Dalna, where Nihil-affiliated scientist Dr. Zadina Mkampa had a secret laboratory. Upon being assigned to be Mkampa's assistant, Starros saw the fusion matrix in the lab, suspecting it to have been stolen and wondering who had owned it.
