The GB-III was a hovering droid used by the Galactic Empire to protect the corridors and walkways of the Death Star in 0 BBY. They were vaguely spherical and could move incredibly quickly.
Luke Skywalker, just prior to rescuing Princess Leia Organa in 0 BBY, encountered these droids while exploring the Death Star.
