Impact sifters were devices that were used in conjunction with chemical churners to create fuel cores for ion engines and plasma generators. The use of impact sifters created deep pits on the industrial planet Bescane by the time of the Galactic Civil War between Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. During the war, Bescane produced fuel cores using impact sifters and chemical churners.
