A lightsaber was created by Jedi Master Mace Windu for practice purposes prior to his ascension to the Jedi High Council, with a single, switch-activated purple blade and lightsaber crystals imbued by Windu himself.
Master Windu loaned the lightsaber to a Jedi Padawan who was later killed on an assignment to the Outer Rim. The weapon subsequently passed through many hands before coming into the possession of the Omwati Dark Jedi Bleth Fahr by 31 BBY, at which time Windu held no expectations that the saber would be recovered.
