Magnetic fault sensors were a type of sensor. They could be used to detect flaws and weaknesses in an atmosphere containment field. The Galactic Empire used R4 astromech droids rigged with magnetic fault sensors to find any such weakness in the Death Star's atmosphere containment fields.
