Mechanical braking flaps, also known as maneuvering flaps, were flight components installed on Alliance to Restore the Republic snowspeeders. There were two mechanical braking flaps on the craft, located on either wing above each repulsorlift engine. The flaps were used to increase the snowspeeder's maneuverability in combat and within a planetary atmosphere.
