The Merr-Sonn Model 57 was a weapon similar in appearance to the BlasTech DL-44 heavy blaster pistol.
The Rebel Alliance purchased a number of these weapons from an arms dealer on Ord Mantell. One of them came into the ownership of Luke Skywalker, who used it alongside his lightsaber. He started carrying the pistol a short time after the Battle of Yavin.
