Relic

A relic was a piece of masterwork craftsmanship created to house and conceal a kyber crystal. Relics were believed by the people of the planet Rei'izu to hold the souls or ghosts of the dead. Some individuals would craft a relic after a loved one died. Although bones of the dead would remain with the living, ghosts were meant to be sent to a temple rather than kept.

The form of each relic varied; examples included lanterns, mirrors, timepieces, combs, charms, and ivory carvings. The artistry of the containers gave them a resonance in the Force that Force-sensitive beings could detect. Such individuals might overlook the presence of the crystal and attribute its presence to the craft rather than realizing it contained kyber. The Empire did not permit beings outside of the Jedi clans to own kyber.

For around two years, Ekiya gathered many crates full of relics and stored them in the cargo hold of her starship, the Poor Crow. She promised her fellow refugees of Rei'izu that she would take the relics to their homeworld and deliver them to the temples.
