Surveillance tagger

Legends Canon version → Linked from 14 articles

Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

A surveillance tagger, also known as a sensor tag, was a small tracking device consisting of two distinct parts; the homing beacon and the tracker. The beacon was affixed to a target, usually pinned to clothing, magnetized, or via darts.

Each tagger had a dedicated tracker that was coded to receive the signal from a specific beacon. The beacon relayed information to the tracker about the target's location, direction, and rate of movement. The tagger, and the target it was attached to, could then be tracked from a safe distance.

Surveillance taggers were primarily used as espionage tools by security officers, private investigators, skip tracers, bounty hunters, and intelligence agents.

A variety of models were available on the open market, including Rhinsome Tracking Corporation's SureSnoop, MechBlaze Tracking Corp.'s Observer Mk. I, and Astroserver Industries' Rover and Trailmaster.
