Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

The Twin-Port Ion Stream Exhaust Vent, also known as twin-port deflectors, was a component of the TIE/IN interceptor which controlled and channelled the exhaust from the starfighter's Microparticle Ion Accelerator to provide thrust. The unit was made of an alloy that was a military secret. The deflectors were finely-tuned and were able to be controlled individually, allowing them to balance each other out during tight turns and prolonged flight maneuvers.
