Verpine shatter guns, also known as Verps, were handheld projectile weapons ranging in scale from handguns to rifles produced by the insectoid Verpine species. Due to their silent and precise nature, they were highly coveted weapons by assassins and notably Mandalorian warriors. They operated similar to railguns, using magnetic coils to silently fire slugs at extreme velocities capable of penetrating Katarn-class Armor and dealing large kinetic damage. Though, its successor, the Mark II Katarn-class Armor, could not be penetrated by Verpines. Shatter guns were considered highly versatile, with Kal Skirata joking that he could fire small rocks out of his if he needed to. Alongside this, they were capable of reducing their power coils, which slowed the velocity of the projectile.

However, Verpines were considered very fragile and vulnerable to quick movement, in Kal Skirata's words, "They do not bounce." Accompanying this unfortunate downside, they were vulnerable to EMP attacks as a result of their reliance on power cells.
