An XCiter, also known as a gas conversion enabler, was a component used in blasters. Blaster gas from the gas chamber was released into the XCiter via the Heter-Valve when the weapon's trigger was pulled. The gas molecules were then excited by the energy released from the blaster's power pack for hand weapons, or attached power generator for larger blasters. The excited gases then moved into the weapon's actuating module. XCiters had a variable pressure adjustor that could regulate how much excited blaster gas entered the actuating module. Improper settings on the adjustor could cause the weapon to overload, misfire, or result in a loss of firepower over time.
