Hanno speeder

Hanno speeders were a type of speeder that was a precursor to the landspeeder. For a long time prior to the construction of Mos Espa Grand Arena on the desert planet Tatooine, thrill-seekers held free-for-all, no-holds-barred races in the natural canyon amphitheater at the edge of the Northern Dune Sea where the arena would eventually stand.

These races initially used animal-drawn carts before Hanno Speeders took their place, and according to legend, it was from these races that podracing first developed. Podracers would eventually replace Hanno Speeders in the races by the start of the modern era of podracing around a century before the Galactic Civil War.
