In 18 BBY, after the Battle of Dac City on Mon Cala, the Galactic Empire utilized a type of submarine to rescue Darth Vader from the depths of the Great Ungeness Trench. Scores of Imperial submarines were locked in combat against the Mon Cala Mercantile Fleet led by Admiral Raddus in the southern hemisphere of Mon Cala.
