Carl was a Shikitari insectoid who was purchased to participate as a gladiator in free-for-all mortal brawls in the Cauldron arena, the largest combat pit on the planet Rattatak, shortly after the outbreak of the Clone Wars. However, Carl was quickly killed by a Bugnaught droid, which burned him alive.
