Gef Olazon was a Human male who served the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances as a member of the Galactic Alliance Marines, specifically the specialized Void Jumpers unit. By that year 44 ABY, he had risen to the rank of Sergeant Major. In that capacity, he and several Void Jumpers under his command accompanied Jedi Master Saba Sebatyne and former Jedi Tahiri Veila on a mission into the Sith-occupied New Jedi Temple in an attempt to destroy the dark side entity Abeloth. The mission was successful, and though many of the Void Jumpers were killed, Olazon survived.
