Ghal Tarpfen

Ghal Tarpfen was a Mon Calamari female who held the rank of Chief as Head of Security at the Galactic Republic's Starlight Beacon space station. Born on the waterworld of Mon Cala, she served as part of the Mon Calamari Guard but left when her lover, King Shenrick, betrayed her. Tarpfen eventually came to serve as Head of Security for Starlight, arriving on the station around the same time as Administrator Velko Jahen in 232 BBY. Tarfpen and Jahen worked in tandem to manage Starlight Beacon; they solved issues such as a fake assassination attempt on Ambassador Ceeril, which greatly angered the Mon Calamari once she found out that Ceeril's life had not really been in danger.

Tarpfen and Jahen were also forced to deal with a scrum of scientists visiting around 231 BBY, finding a way to temporarily subdue them and then figure out what was causing the usually peaceful group to be so violent. In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauders blackmailed Tarpfen, threatening to reveal details of her past if she did not disable cameras on Starlight for them. The Mon Calamari instead tried to investigate, resulting in her kidnapping from the space station by the Nihil. The Nihil moved her to a starship, where she was able to escape her bonds and send a message back to the Republic; the Republic ultimately only received a fragment of the message, however.

Tarpfen left the ship in an escape pod but was found by the Nihil, who unsuccessfully interrogated her for information via torture. They eventually gave up and left her on a prison transport, where she wound up being the lone survivor of the blight disease that made its way there, though she too was severely sick and was saved thanks to a band of stranded Republic Defense Coalition members who found her in the Nihil's Occlusion Zone. They were able to remove the blight from Tarpfen, though they all soon found themselves in another conflict with the Nihil.
