Hugh Sion

Hugh Sion was a human male New Republic Starfighter Corps pilot active in 34 ABY during the Cold War between the militant First Order and the New Republic. During the conflict, he joined fellow pilot Mia Gabon under the command of Kazuda Xiono on a mission to rendezvous with Commander Poe Dameron of the Resistance to deliver intelligence. After coming under attack by the First Order, Sion and Gabon managed to escape into hyperspace back to base while Xiono stayed behind to see the mission through, eventually being rescued by Dameron himself.

Sion joined the Resistance during the First Order-Resistance War, flying for Jade Squadron under Commander Venisa Doza. The squadron used the supertanker fuel depot Colossus of Captain Imanuel Doza, Venisa's husband, as the launching point for a mission to the First Order-controlled planet Dantooine to rescue Resistance recruits. Sion was reunited with Xiono on the tanker and introduced his friend to his new wingmate Norath Kev. After being briefed, the expanded squadron, including members of Ace Squadron, departed for Dantooine and was attacked by a scouting party of TIE fighters, though Jade Squadron defeated the party and continued on their mission. While escorting the convoy of transports, the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Thunderer arrived, and First Order forces attacked Sion and the convoy. Former Colossus resident Tamara Ryvora managed to trail Xiono, but Sion damaged her fighter, and the two surviving shuttles—one of the three having been destroyed—and Jade Squadron escaped back to the Colossus.

The Colossus traveled to the Barabesh system, and Xiono and the mechanic Jarek Yeager attempted to rescue Ryvora, as she had secretly expressed a desire to desert from the First Order. The trio was captured and brought aboard the Thunderer, which traveled to the Barabesh system to destroy the Colossus. Inspired by Captain Doza, Xiono, and Ryvora, Jade Squadron joined forces with Ace Squadron and launched from the Colossus, and the combined forces targeted the Thunderer engines, finding success with the help of the astromech droid CB-23. Sion and the other members of Jade Squadron returned to the Colossus and celebrated their victory at Aunt Z's Tavern.
