Merak

Merak was a Force-sensitive Gran Jedi Master of the Jedi Order who served as the dedicated archivist of the archive at the Jedi temple on the planet Batuu during the High Republic Era. By 382 BBY, he was considered old by Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani. That year, Nitani found a compass in the archive after it beckoned to her through the Force. She explained this to Merak, who blinked his three eyes consecutively and suggested she keep the compass in her pocket and continue listening to the Force.

Later, Nitani's master, Silandra Sho, went on a pilgrimage to the moon Jedha and left Nitani at the Batuu temple with Merak. Nitani heard rumors of violence breaking out on Jedha, but no one, including Merak, was able to provide her with news. Nitani wanted to help, but knew she needed information to do so and could not find any. Merak told her to be patient and that the Force would provide.
