Pi-Lippa was an alien enslaver who, for a time, acquired the Human Shmi Skywalker as property. Pi-Lippa taught Skywalker technical skills and intended to grant her freedom, however, the alien died suddenly in approximately 41 BBY, shortly after the birth of Shmi's son Anakin. Shmi was then sold to a relative of Pi-Lippa's, who did not honor the deceased's intentions.
