R5-X2 was an R5 series astromech droid who served in the criminal empire of Jabba Desilijic Tiure. The Hutt crime lord, who also acted as the grandmaster host of the Boonta Eve Classic, used the astromech droid as a high-speed calculator to determine betting odds for podraces.
In 32 BBY, R5-X2 attended the Boonta Eve Classic podrace held at the Mos Espa Grand Arena on the desert planet Tatooine, where it stood alongside Jabba. When the Hutt announced the beginning of the race, the droid was positioned next to one of Jabba’s Klatooinian mercenaries. As an R-series astromech, R5-X2 was manufactured by Industrial Automaton and featured red-and-white plating with red sensors.
