Rana Mas Trehalt was a female Duros, and a legendary Queen of Duro who was considered a benevolent ruler and a wise lawgiver. She ushered her people into a cultural golden age by encouraging the exploration of various arts and sciences, particularly interstellar flight. Her scientists made profound breakthroughs in this field and within decades they had established orbital space stations over Duro. Around 25,000 BBY, the development of the modern hyperdrive led to a wave of Duros colonization under Rana's blessing. The Duros made first contact with many species, including Humans. Rana befriended a Corellian princess and received a ring from her as a gift. Rana was also one of the founding members of the Galactic Republic in 25,053 BBY. After she died at the advanced age of two hundred, she was succeeded by her son, Dassid, who continued his mother's policies of galactic expansion. A monument was later made to her in the Valley of Royalty. Rana was spoken of with great respect even into the New Republic. Nearly every schoolchild on every civilized planet learned about Duro's ancient history and the Golden Age when Queen Rana ruled.

Rana meant dark cloud in Durese.
