Decades before the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, a corrupt admiral of the Republic Navy sold off the remaining starships of the local fleet stationed at the planet Ord Mantell. The admiral, who sold the ships to a number of wealthy pirates, was never caught by Republic authorities, and the pirates would haunt shipping routes in the Bright Jewel sector for decades.
