A philosopher hailed from the Inner Rim region Nouane. At one point by 22 BBY, he was traveling aboard a starliner when he was kidnapped by Sabo, a member of a gang of Weequay pirates led by Hondo Ohnaka and based out of the Outer Rim Territories world Florrum. Ohnaka subsequently informed Sabo that someone's eloquence did not necessarily imply that they possessed any money. Eventually, the philosopher's talk, which Ohnaka considered "babbling," annoyed the pirates enough for them to throw him into a hole with a dangerous creature known as gundark.
Later, while a hung-over Ohnaka was aboard the luxury liner Salin Mariner, he was reminded of the philosopher during a conversation about art after he had given an annoyed advice to a group of other first-class passengers about using a gundark to deal with complaints from employees. At the time, the pirate also unsuccessfully tried to remember the philosopher's name.
