Vinis Karyvin

Vinis Karyvin was a Lieutenant with the Galactic Empire from the Outer Rim planet Akiva. While serving the Empire he was rumored to have sent a sergeant to the brig for spilling his caf. In 3 ABY, he traveled to Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica to competed as a fathier jockey in a fathier race in the Canto Cup which was sponsored by the Empire. The Imperial Security Bureau rigged the race to guarantee that Karyvin would win to help boost morale.

Before the race, a scoundrel named Kay Vess, saw a poster advertising the Imperial sponsored race while on Akiva. She later overheard two stormtroopers discussing the race outside The Alcazar, a cantina in the city Myrra, with one of the troopers noting that the winner of the race was going to be a lieutenant. Vess then headed inside The Alcazar where she overheard two imperial officers also discussing race, during which she learned that one of them was carrying a datapad which listed the identity of the lieutenant. With the help of her Merqaal companion Nix, Vess acquired the datapad to learn that Vinis Karyvin was the name of the lieutenant. With that information was was able to bet on Karyvin and watch the race via a hologram.
