"Winged Gundark" was the nickname among the peers of a TIE pilot in the Imperial Navy who attained the nickname for an impressive number of career kills in high-altitude battles by 3 ABY. By that year's Imperial occupation of the planet Bespin, Winged Gundark had joined the Imperial Obsidian Squadron, flying under the call sign of Obsidian 7 and piloting a TIE/LN starfighter modified for upper atmosphere maneuvers and pursuits.
Following Bespin's occupation, the YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon managed to escape from the planet's Cloud City, resulting in Obsidian Squadron's pursuit of the freighter into space. Winged Gundark piloted one of the pursuing TIE/LN starfighters, though the Millennium Falcon ultimately escaped Obsidian Squadron and Imperial capture. At some point, Winged Gundark, accompanied by at least one other TIE/LN starfighter, flew over an astronomical object, with a large starship above the starfighters. Winged Gundark's nickname was shared with the gundark, a large bipedal furry primate species from the planet Vanqor.
