During the last years of the Cold War, a Republic Valor-class cruiser and a large complement of Liberator-class starfighters was sighted over the Imperial-aligned agricultural world of Nez Peron, challenging the Sith Empire's authority. However, fighters from the elite Empire's Fury starfighter squadron soon arrived in system and engaged the Republic ships in the asteroid field above of Nez Peron, in order to demonstrate the Empire's control over the region.
The Empire's Fury fighters eliminated a large number of Republics starfighters and heavily damaged the cruiser, convincing their remaining forces to abandon the system.
