In 20 BBY, the Confederacy of Independent Systems launched a war against the Shadow Collective led by the rogue Sith Lord Darth Maul following his escape from a Separatist prison on the planet Stygeon. The Galactic Republic became involved during a battle within a Mandalorian asteroid outpost. The war ended with the death of Nightsister Mother Talzin and the disbandment of the Shadow Collective.
