A civil war amongst the Mandalorians broke out when Heta Kol, along with her faction known as the Hidden Chain broke away from the other clans and started ambushing Mandalorian naval patrols, culminating in a large-scale attack on Mandalore the Avenger's flagship, the Spirit of Vengeance II, after which the conflict began escalating into open war. The conflict was the result of the boiling over of the Hidden Chain's members' grievances with Mandalore the Avenger's leadership.
