In approximately 58 BBY, Jedi Padawan Mace Windu embarked on a mission to the Wild Space planet Hurikane. The Padawan had been assigned the mission by the Jedi Council so that he could obtain the unique crystals he desired to build his lightsaber. On Hurikane, Windu encountered a rock-encrusted indigenous humanoid species and engaged in conflict with them, which resulted in one of the natives falling into a ravine and shattering his body. Filled with regret, Windu used the Force to heal the native's body. In gratitude, the natives gave the Padawan violet Hurrikaine crystals, which he used to constructed his lightsaber.
