The Maher system was a star system situated in the Unknown Regions within grid square G-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It was orbited by the Garbage Moon of Maher. In 33 ABY, the system was a three week trip from the First Order's mobile superweapon Starkiller Base, which was built inside the planet Ilum.
The First Order employed the human Marialew to transport trash from the base to the system's garbage moon a few times by 33 ABY. In that year, the First Order stormtrooper FN-2187 arranged to accompany Marialew on one trip with plans to sneak native creatures of Ilum aboard Marialew's ship and relocate them to the moon.
