Chief engineer was an engineering position held by Del Meeko aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer Implacable. After Meeko was reassigned to join Inferno Squad, Naylyn Bashan was to take his place as chief engineer aboard the vessel. Neeku Vozo served as the chief engineer of the Colossus during the war between the First Order and the Resistance, a position which made Vozo seen as useful in the eyes of the Warbird gang, a group of pirates who intended to use his work to stage a mutiny.
