The Director of Investigation was implemented into the Galactic Republic, activated by the year 22 BBY, when the Clone Wars had begun between the Republic and Separatists. Held during the war by Foga Brill, the director was charged with leading the Republic Judicial Department's Criminal Investigations Office, as well as the Enforcement DataCore and other law enforcement agencies.
