The Judicial Department, also known as the Judiciary branch, was the executive and judiciary department that oversaw law enforcement and judiciary affairs for the Galactic Republic. It was based at the Judicial Arcology on the planet Coruscant and oversaw the Republic courts, the Judicial Forces, and the Republic Office of Criminal Investigations.
With the onset of the Clone Wars, Judicial Forces functions were transferred to the Republic Military, with only peace officers remaining to maintain law and order on Republic worlds.
